Over 5,000 Armed Forces personnel have been deployed to help with the COVID-19 response, making it “the biggest homeland military operation in peacetime” according to Defence HQ.

The military is helping the NHS deliver 10,000 coronavirus vaccines a day as well as supporting community testing around the country, including Manchester, Kent, Swadlincote, Kirklees and Lancashire. Armed Forces personnel have been working on a range of tasks from operating testing sites to supporting asymptomatic testing. In schools, testing for COVID-19 has also been rolled out across the country, with local response teams providing virtual advice to help stop the spread of the virus.

The Ministry of Defence deployed 10 military planners to assist the Vaccine Task Force, with over 150 personnel working across the country to help plan vaccine delivery and also protect the UK for future pandemics.
