Refunds/COVID-19

In these uncertain times we are planning to go ahead with this event. We will monitor the situation carefully in case we are required to change dates, alter the itinerary or cancel the event.

We realise that it may be hard to commit to registering for an event at this time due to so many events being cancelled because of the pandemic but we will endeavor to ensure the motorcycle ride goes ahead in the safest way possible as it did in 2021.

Please be aware that all money except the Enthuse registration fee goes directly to the charity. If the event is unable to take place due to COVID19 we will contact you to offer a refund (please note: the registration fees are non-refundable) or perhaps you may consider donating your registration fee to the charity.

If the event goes ahead and you are no longer able to take part please be aware that we are only able to review refund requests on a case by case basis. Please contact: motorcycleride@soldierscharity.org should you have any questions.

Terms and Conditions

The ride-out will be approximately 40 – 50 miles long, in a circular route that starts and finishes at Triumph Factory Visitor Experience, Hinckley.

The ride-out will be lead by a Ride Leader wearing a high visibility vest and will be followed by a Tail End Charlie, who will also be wearing a high visibility vest. Each road junction where a change of direction is required will be signposted with fluorescent yellow signs and ride marshals will be stationed at some of the road junctions.

There is nothing like the sight and sound of a big motorcycle group ride. Whether you are an experienced group rider, or whether this is your first experience of riding in a group, we want to ensure that you enjoy the ride and arrive back safely, so please follow the advice given below:

  • Ensure you and your bike are road legal for you to ride on the day. Ensure your bike is well maintained.
  • Ensure you have sufficient fuel to complete the group ride.
  • Normal traffic rules and conditions apply. The roads are open to other traffic, so follow all normal riding rules.
  • Be prepared for a leisurely ride. Think of the group ride as being like a procession that you are an important part of.
  • Maintain a safe distance from other riders and other vehicles at all times.
  • Do not panic if you become separated from other riders in the group. Follow the fluorescent yellow signs at the road junctions, and directions provided by the route marshals until you can safely rejoin the group. Do not speed or carry out any unsafe actions to try and catch up.
  • Do not overtake other riders in the group. Maintain your position.
  • Overtake other road users only if it is necessary, and safe to do so.
  • On wider sections of road, and where traffic conditions allow, ride in a slightly compressed staggered formation, but under no circumstances get too close to other riders, and never overlap wheels with the rider in front.
  • Indicate early. Using your indicators will inform the following riders in the group.
  •  If you experience a problem, pull safely over to the side of the road. The Tail End Charlie rider will pull in and advise you on what to do.

      Pillion Passengers:

  • Rule 85 The Highway Code – You MUST NOTcarry more than one pillion passenger who MUST sit astride the machine on a proper seat. They should face forward with both feet on the footrests. You MUST NOT carry a pillion passenger unless your motorcycle is designed to do so. Provisional licence holders MUST NOT carry a pillion passenger.
  • The motorbike must be equipped with suitable supports or rests for the feet of the pillion passenger
  • Pillion passengers must be capable of sitting astride a proper seat securely fixed to the motorcycle
  • A pillion passenger must wear a suitably constructed safety helmet
  • The decision to carry a passenger remains with the rider, who is legally responsible for ensuring that the passenger is safely supported.

 Age Restrictions:

  • There are no age restrictions relating to the pillion passengers (see pillion passengers).
  • Riders are to be 18 years + – Due to the route taken, certain types of motorcycles would be restricted on the roads used.
