On Friday 5th March 2021, we’re getting together virtually to raise money for the Army family!

Join us for a jam-packed evening of entertainment with an exciting line-up of familiar faces coming together to raise money for soldiers, veterans and their families.

A Night To Remember

Our Friday Night In is the perfect way to get together with your household, share a meal and your favourite drink while doing something for a good cause.

Bid in our online auction, take part in our prize draw, hear from special guests including Clare Balding, Simon McCoy, John Simpson and General Lord Dannatt, and enjoy music from the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. 

Registration is just £10, and we’ll be fundraising for soldiers, veterans and their families throughout the night.

The evening kicks off with a welcome from our charity’s President, General Sir James Everard, followed by Q&A sessions with our celebrity speakers, the online auction and two leg-stretches to serve your food and drink.

What to expect on the night

Celebrity Speakers

Clare Balding, John Simpson, Simon McCoy and General Lord Dannatt will be sharing fascinating insights from the worlds of sport, journalism and the Armed Forces. Online Auction

We will reveal our fabulous prizes on Friday 26th February. Bidding starts from 6pm on Friday 26th February, with more prizes being added on the night when the auction goes live at 6pm!

Cocktail competition

Fancy a pre-dinner tipple? Enter our cocktail competition by sending us a photo of your special homemade beverage and you could win our bespoke cocktail hamper!

We’ve got a host of familiar faces from the worlds of sport, politics, the Armed Forces and current affairs – not to mention music from the world-famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Clare Balding

Winner of the BAFTA Special Award for her coverage of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Clare Balding is one of Britain’s leading broadcasters. She has published numerous bestselling books for children and is an ardent campaigner for better coverage of women’s sport.



John Simpson

John Simpson, the BBC’s World Affairs Editor, is the most distinguished foreign correspondent of the age. A veteran broadcaster and accomplished author, John has covered most of the major world news events from the 1960s to the present day.



Simon McCoy

Simon McCoy is a BBC news presenter on BBC News, regularly anchoring their afternoon coverage. In a journalism career spanning four decades, he was Sky TV’s Royal Correspondent for five years and has also covered numerous world events, including the 2003 Iraq War on location in Kuwait and Basra.



General Lord Dannatt

General Lord Dannatt is a retired senior British Army officer and member of the House of Lords. He served as Chief of the General Staff, the professional head of the Army, from 2006 to 2009, having commissioned into The Green Howards in 1971. A regular contributor to Parliamentary debates, he is also Chair of the National Emergencies Trust.

The event will be broadcast live on our website. Once you register, we will send you a link to the page on Friday 26th February and again on the day.  

This event is virtual so we recommend you use a laptop or tablet to watch the entertainment and use a smartphone to look at our auction prizes and chat to us on the night.

If you want to watch on your TV and are using a laptop, connect the two with a HDMI cable. If you’re using a tablet, simply use an AV adaptor and a HDMI cable to connect to your TV.
