Salute Our Heroes Concert 2021
The ‘Salute Our Heroes Concert’ is a fantastic evening of music at the iconic Borough Hall, Hartlepool. With the fantastic Royal Signals (Northern) Band and supporting artists including Colin Bourdiec, Youth Connection Theatre Company, Sandy Smith and Inspire Productions International, it is sure to be a special evening. We also have the honour to be supported by North East national treasure, Pam Royle DL.
The concert will also provide an opportunity to commemorate the World War II anniversaries missed during the pandemic: Victory in Europe, Victory over Japan, and the Battle of Britain – a concert where we really can ‘Salute Our Heroes‘.
The Royal Signals (Northern) Band
The Royal Signals (Northern) Band is one of only 19 Army Reserve bands. Based in Darlington, the Band recruits from across the North East. It regularly provides support to the British Army, both at home and abroad. The Band’s rich history dates back to three North East Territorial Army bands: The Royal Signals, The Royal Engineers, and The Durham Light Infantry.
Sandy has been singing and performing most of her life. At the age of 9 she performed at the Newcastle Theatre Royal in the role of Annie. At 18 she moved to London performing on some of the most prestigious stages in the West End, including the London Palladium. She has had leading roles from Sandy in Grease, Narrator in Joseph, and Mabel in Pirates of Penzance. However, in recent years she has performed solo in different venues, from private to large Corporate.
Born in Cardiff, Colin Bourdiec first put his foot on the professional stage at the age of 13 working with his father. After studying dance, Colin became an accomplished ‘song and dance’ man, later adding magic and ukulele to his repertoire. He has worked extensively on the preforming circuit, including 13 years at sea as a Cruise Director for P&O. Latterly, he was instrumental in the creation of the South Tyneside Academy of Musical Performance CIC, for which he is now Managing Director. However, as a master of the ukulele, he has become an acclaimed George Formby tribute act.
Inspire Productions International
Inspire Productions International has a rich pedigree of providing first-class entertainment. Whilst based in Teesside, the Company has taken their productions around the world on premiere cruise ships and to holiday destinations worldwide, demonstrating their global appeal.
Youth Connection Theatre Company
Youth Connection Theatre Company, based in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, has just celebrated its 35th anniversary; these years were a catalogue of award-winning productions, concerts, and appearances in both local and professional venues. These include: the Gala Theatre Durham, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the National Theatre in London. Further afield, they have also performed in tours of France, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and Russia. Youth Connection has earned its reputation through its dedication, commitment and drive towards producing a professional level of performance.
Pam Royle DL

She retired from ITV earlier this year but still works tirelessly in support of charities across the North East. She was appointed as Deputy Lieutenant of County Durham in 2002 and made a Fellow of Sunderland University in 2015.
The Concert Venue
Built in 1866 and located on the Headland overlooking the North Sea, the Borough Hall used to be the hub of old Hartlepool. It housed courts, the Police Station and local authority offices. One of the largest and most-historic buildings in the region, it now provides an ideal location for concerts and gatherings, in addition to an iconic community focus. Hartlepool Borough Hall, Hartlepool, TS24 0JD.
