Soldiers of Oxfordshire Trust, Supporting ABF The Soldiers’ Charity

an Illustrated talk with Jeremy Mainwaring-Burton

Saturday 17th June 2023  from 7:00pm

The Queen Mother would spend every August at the Castle of Mey, her property near John O’Groats.  Jeremy first stayed there as Her Majesty’s equerry before many visits as one of her guests. When she died in 2002 he helped open the castle to the public, and what was supposed to be a six week appointment lasted six years.

This talk is based on personal experience and is an amusing account of what it was like to stay at Mey, not only for those lucky enough to be invited as guests but also for their royal hostess.

This event is being held at Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum, Woodstock, Oxfordshire.

SOFO Museum first opened during the summer of 2014, tucked away in the beautiful gardens in the grounds of The Oxfordshire Museum and Woodstock Library, and just on the doorstep of Blenheim Palace.  The museum hosts a wide range of exhibitions, bringing to life military stories that capture the imagination

Come and join the The Oxfordshire Committee for an interesting and amusing evening.

Tickets: £25.00
