LISTEN NOW: GENERAL TALK WITH GENERAL SIR MARK CARLETON-SMITH

Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith, speaks about the critical role of the Army during the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of the Integrated Review 2021 on UK Defence Policy, and women in the Army in our latest episode of General Talk.

Sir Mark explains how the pandemic has shed light on the Army’s ability to create actionable solutions to complex problems, reflecting: “This has seen the Army in some respects at its very best.” Later, he reflects on the impact of the Integrated Review, which will see the force reduce from 82,000 to 72,500. This, according to Sir Mark, means the Army can invest in upgrading principal warfighting capabilities.
