On this day in 1918, the signing of the Armistice brought an end to four years of eclipsing, total war. Since then, the nation has gathered on Remembrance Day to honour those men and women of the Armed Forces who have given their lives in the service of their country

Victoria Hale’s father, Captain Mark Hale, was killed in Afghanistan in 2009. In this video, she reads a poem dedicated to his memory.
