Find out about some of the incredible campaigns and events we’ve worked on over the years. From the recent Homeless Veterans campaign, to our award-winning garden at the 2014 RHS Chelsea Flower Show and its accompanying revival of the much loved WWI newspaper The Wipers Times, to Red White and Blue Day; the annual tri-service fundraising campaign for schools.
Homeless Veterans Campaign 2014/15
The Charity was approached by Evening Standard Independent Media to partner for their 2014-15 Winter campaign. The Homeless Veterans’ Campaign raised more than £1million in donations, as well as raising awareness of The Soldiers’ Charity.
Over several months the campaign drew attention to the wide range of housing issues for veterans and our part in supporting their needs. The vast majority of individuals leaving the Army do make the transition from Service to civilian life without significant difficulty, but there are some who face problems, either immediately or many years after leaving the Army.
A key element of a successful transition is access to appropriate housing and there are many reasons why a veteran or serving soldiers’ family can find this particularly challenging.
The funds raised have already had a significant impact, allowing us to develop current projects and initiate new ones. It will further strengthen our working relationships with our key partners across the UK.
