We are pleased to award a £10,998 grant to Waterloo Uncovered to promote veterans’ mental health and wellbeing.
Waterloo Uncovered is a groundbreaking archaeological excavation of the historic battlefield in Belgium. Since the 200th anniversary of the battle in 2015, veterans and serving personnel have been undertaking a programme of archaeology and welfare support across five pillars: Recovery, Health and Wellbeing, Education, Employment and Vocation, and Transition into Civilian Life.
Our grant will go towards the costs of running the 2022 excavation programme and support 16 UK veterans and serving personnel working alongside professional archaeologists. Many of the veterans participating in the project have experienced service-related injuries or suffer from a range of mental health-related conditions.
