General Sir James Everard has taken over the presidency of our charity from General Sir Mike Jackson, having recently retired from an impressive full career in the British Army. General James carried out operational service in Cyprus, Bosnia Herzegovina, Kosovo, Iraq and Belgium; and his final appointment was as the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe in Allied Command Operations NATO.

In our latest podcast episode for General Talk, General James candidly discusses his recent NATO appointment. Asked if he thinks NATO is still a credible force, he states that it is and adds, “With Donald Trump, of course, you always had to have a look at what the Americans were doing as opposed to what he was tweeting.”

General James remembers how honoured he was to be invited by General Sir Mike Jackson to take over his presidency and expresses his respect for our charity by stating, “You find time and time again that it is a charity that is the most trusted, the most well governed.” He goes on to state that for him, “it’s the charity with the strongest foundations and I’ll be really keen to see where we can take it.”
